Single Session Therapy

What is Single Session Therapy?

Single Session Therapy (SST) is an approach to therapy that aims to help you make meaningful progress in a single appointment. Rather than assuming you will need weeks or months of therapy, we focus on what matters most to you right now and make the best use of the time available

Rather than assuming you will need weeks or months of therapy, we work together as if this session might be the only one you have. That doesn't mean you can only come once. It simply means we make the most of the time available today.

Many people find that one thoughtful conversation can help them gain clarity, feel heard, discover new perspectives, or identify practical next steps.

What happens in a Single Session Therapy appointment?

The session begins by exploring what is most important to you right now.

Together we will:

  • Identify the main issue you want help with.
  • Explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
  • Recognise your strengths and resources.
  • Consider what has helped you cope before.
  • Develop practical ideas and next steps that feel realistic and achievable

The focus is on achieving something useful and meaningful from the session, no matter how big or small.

What can Single Session Therapy help with?

Single Session Therapy can be helpful for many common emotional, personal, and life challenges, including:

  • Stress and feeling overwhelmed
  • Anxiety and worry
  • Low mood
  • Confidence and self-esteem difficulties
  • Relationship issues
  • Family concerns
  • Work-related stress
  • Decision-making problems
  • Adjusting to change
  • Grief and loss
  • Feeling stuck or confused
  • Managing difficult emotions
  • Building coping strategies.
  • Solving specific problems or situations

Many people choose Single Session Therapy when:

  • They have one specific concern they would like to focus on.
  • They want help making a difficult decision.
  • They feel stuck and would value a fresh perspective.
  • They are looking for practical support without committing to ongoing therapy.

Is one session enough?

For some people, one session is all they need.

Others may find that one session provides a useful starting point and choose to return for additional support later. Research has shown that many people experience significant benefit from a single well-focused therapeutic conversation.

There is no pressure to book further sessions. You decide what feels right for you.

A simple way to think about it

Single Session Therapy is a focused conversation with a trained therapist. Together, we explore what matters most to you, make sense of what is happening, and identify something useful you can take forward.

The goal is not to solve everything in one session. The goal is to make a meaningful difference today.

You may leave with greater clarity, a new perspective, increased confidence, or practical next steps. Whatever brings you here, we aim to make the conversation as helpful as possible

The goal is not to solve everything in one session. The goal is to make a meaningful difference today

Compassionate, focused support when you need it most. Helping you make the most of a single conversation.
