Our Approach

We believe in working collaboratively, listening carefully, validating your experience, and supporting you to make sense of your symptoms in a safe and non-judgemental environment. Every therapy plan is shaped around your needs, your pace, and what matters most to you

Understanding Functional Neurological Disorder Understanding FND

Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) is a condition that affects how the brain and body communicate. It can lead to a wide range of symptoms, including weakness, tremors, functional seizures, difficulties with walking, speech changes, sensory symptoms, fatigue, and problems with concentration or memory. The experience of FND is different for each individual, and symptoms can fluctuate from day to day.

Many people living with FND describe feeling confused, frustrated, or misunderstood, particularly when symptoms are severe but medical tests do not always provide clear explanations of what FND is but rather what it is not! It is important to know that FND symptoms are real, common, and recognised within modern neurological practice.

Therapy for FND is not about suggesting that symptoms are "all in the mind". Instead, specialist Functional Neurological Disorder therapy focuses on helping individuals better understand how symptoms develop and are maintained, while identifying practical strategies that support recovery and improve day-to-day functioning.

At Calm Mind Therapy, we provide specialist FND support that combines education, collaborative exploration, and personalised symptom management strategies. Our approach is compassionate, evidence-informed, and tailored to your individual goals. Whether you are newly diagnosed or have been living with FND for many years, therapy can help you develop a clearer understanding of your condition, increase confidence in self-management, and move towards a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
